January, 2010 The End and the Beginning In Sight

Spring and Summer 2009 has been busy and full of blessings for Grace Fellowship Church.  Despite rainy weather and a few other set backs construction of our new building has progressed at an amazing pace since Ground was broken March 5, 2009.   Construction will continue through 2009.

We have received help from many volunteers and donations of materials, etc, to help save on the final cost of the building.    So far six mission teams as well as many other volunteers have worked on our project.

Carpenters for Christ, headed by Brother Billy Pollard, of Alabama, brought a team of 98 mission minded men who volunteered their time and labor.  They were with us from June 3 to 13 to put the building under roof.  Because of the rainy weather we have had in central Kentucky, they were only able to complete about 80 percent of their goal.

Alcorn Baptist Builders from Alcorn County, Mississippi,  arrived June 14 and were with us until June 19.  Again, there was rainy weather, but the Alcorn team was able to complete a lot of work.

The team from Raleigh Baptist Church were with us June 28 to July 3.  There were thirty workers to do further construction and a 25 member ministry support team who conducted a three day Vacation Bible School for our children.  They provided teachers, materials, and all the supplies for VBS.

July 12 - July 17 Tommy Pitman and the Clearmont Baptist Team, from Westminister, SC worked to installed HVAC in preparation of the arrival of teams to hang dry wall.   July 19 - 24 the First Baptist Church Mission Team arrived with fifteen to twenty construction workers hang dry wall.  A support group of ten did community ministry with local children.  An unexpected blessing was the arrival of a team of eight men from Northeast Arkansas who also helped with the dry wall.  The Arkansas team had been scheduled to work on a church north of Frankfort but that job was cancelled.  We are very thankful that they were willing and able to help Grace Fellowship.

We have been truly blessed by all the people who have come to help Grace Fellowship.  We greatly appreciate all the work that has been done in this project, but we have gained so much more.  We have been blessed with new friendships and with the experience of working with Godly, mission minded sisters and brothers in Christ.

What can you do to help?  The greatest way to help is through your prayers.  You can also help support with financial contributions.  And be ready to give of your time and labor as these volunteer mission groups arrive to give of their own time and labor.  As the project gets closer, look for opportunities to bring in supplies (from paper plates to ladders)  and to help with sight clean-up, laundry, refreshments, an occasional meal, and accommodations.

Remember that these volunteer groups are helping Grace Fellowship build our church building.  We need to do our share in helping them while they are doing God’s work in Lincoln County.
